The 80/20 Diet - For a Less Stressful Diet

Research, and common sense, tells us a followed diet plan is better than a diet plan you don’t keep.

For most people, the issue with dieting is they have a hard time sticking with many diet plans because they are too complicated, too stressful, too restrictive.

To help people feel more successful, the “80/20” diet was introduced to simplify moving towards a healthy eating pattern.

The basic idea of the 80/20 Diet

  • Eat healthy 80% of the time

  • Allow yourself a less restrictive diet 20% of the time

Key Points for the 80/20 Diet:

  • You must eat healthy AT LEAST 80% of the time and not “most of the time”

  • The 20% “less restrictive” part must be around 20%. Unfortunately, it is very easy to unintentially have this be much much higher

  • The overall goal is to reduce the stress level when dieting.  Paying attention is important, but if you stress out over the plan, you are more likely to stop following the plan.

Remember, a good diet that you keep is way better than the best diet you can’t keep.
